Belinda Jones - Pianist

Belinda Jones is a solo, duo and chamber music pianist based in London. She is much in demand as an artist and has worked with some of the finest singers and instrumentalists of her generation.
Having studied at Chetham's School of Music and the Royal Academy of Music, Belinda also has an MA with distinction from the Royal College of Music. Here she held a full scholarship, kindly supported by the Claud and Margaret Craddy award and an AHRC award, and was also awarded the Lord and Lady Lurgan Junior Fellowship in 2012/13. Her teachers include Ryzard Bakst, Ronan O Hora, Roger Vignoles and Simon Lepper. She has taken part in numerous masterclasses with artists including John Lill, Stephen Hough, Howard Shelley and Bernard D'Ascoli.
Belinda has won many competitions including the 2011 Megan Foster prize at the Maggie Teyte competition, and first prizes in the Lies Askonas, Major Van der Pump and RCM Schumann competitions. She has been selected as a Samling artist, and made debuts at the Wigmore Hall, Cadogan Hall and the Moscow Festival. Other performance highlights include the Oxford Lieder Festival, Southbank Centre's Bernstein Festival at the Royal Festival Hall, St James Piccadilly and concerto appearances at the Fairfield Halls and the Bridgewater Hall. Working regularly as a pianist for Southbank Centre, she has been rehearsal pianist on their Peter and the Wolf production with Jarvis Cocker and the Philharmonia Orchestra, and played with Alfred Brendel at the Royal Festival Hall for acoustic work. She has appeared on Radio 3 and recorded for Intermusica with violinist Ning Feng. Belinda is currently a member of the teaching and piano staff at Junior Trinity Laban Conservatoire and the Royal College of Music.
Having worked on the artistic programming team at Southbank Centre, Belinda is very interested in creating unique and innovative programmes. She is a founding member of the Ellis Ensemble, a chamber group dedicated to performing and commissioning music for mixed woodwind and piano and she has regular partnerships with violinist Megumi Nagae, and viola player Isabel Villaneuva.
